Dollar Collapse: “THE ALL AT ONCE PART IS COMING!”- Peter Schiff

Is the dollar about to break and send gold prices to $20,000? Peter Schiff weighs in

Peter Schiff sat down with Dominic Frisby at the New Orleans Investment Conference and argued that nearly every path now facing policymakers leads straight back to gold. The Federal Reserve cannot genuinely defeat inflation without inflicting enormous damage on the housing market, the stock market, and the wider financial system.

Schiff pointed to growing losses already embedded in the U.S. mortgage market and America’s extraordinary debt burden as proof that the central bank is trapped. Another round of quantitative easing, he said, would not stabilize the system but instead trigger a sovereign debt and dollar crisis. When confidence in the dollar itself finally breaks, gold is what steps into the void.

Schiff was blunt about the endgame. Once the dollar really comes under a collapse, there’s no turning back, he explained. “I don’t see what we could do to reverse that process. It’s just going to run its course. And at the end of the day, the dollar is just going to be another currency that buys a lot less than it buys today.”

He described the process as the classic slow then sudden breakdown. “We’ve been in the slowly part for a while. The all at once part is coming. I just don’t know when. But I want to be prepared.”

He also framed the choice facing the country as inflation or government default, with gold as the asset that survives either outcome. Central banks are already acting on that reality by accumulating physical gold and reducing dollar and Treasury exposure.

Schiff sees the greatest opportunities not only in physical gold and silver but also in mining equities, which he expects to deliver outsized returns once the revaluation is underway. The message was consistent with his long standing view: the dollar’s days as the unchallenged reserve currency are numbered, and gold is the asset that takes over when that system finally gives way.
