Gold ETFs Add Bullion for Fifth Straight Day Even as Prices Slide
GFN - NEW YORK: Gold exchange-traded funds added 143,200 troy ounces in the latest session, extending their buying streak to five straight trading days even as the metal remains under pressure.
Bloomberg Automation reported that the latest purchases lifted net ETF gold buying for 2026 to 2.01 million ounces. The new inflow was worth about $598.9 million at the prior session’s spot price.

The buying has continued despite weakness in the underlying metal. Gold was down 3.2% for the year at $4,182.31 in the Bloomberg update.
The accompanying Bloomberg chart shows the divergence clearly. ETF holdings have climbed sharply since July and are now approaching 101 million ounces, while spot gold has fallen from above $5,000 to near $4,200.
The recent flows ironically show ETF investors adding exposure into falling prices rather than liquidating alongside the decline. It would seem the demand is sticky now.
